HEADLINES: JUST HOW MUCH WOOD COULD A WOOD-CHUCK CHUCK?
 
WINTERS, CA- In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 22, five select members of the Davis High School Captain Planet Club suited up in water-tight waders, and with pick-axes in hand, canoed precariously into the abyss that is Putah Creek. Intial reports indicate that the icy water felt like "beavers knawing at my fingers," as Planeteer Nicho Campos admits. His complaint proved an eerie forshadowing of the events later that morning...

          I was riding my eco-friendly bike home from a local tree-planting session the other day when I noticed a tiny worm, inching his way across the street.  He would stretch his worm-like body out, then slide his rear forward to create a horseshoe-shape, before sliding his head forward once again-- now exactly an inch farther than he was when he started.  In this manner, the nimble worm stoically wormed his way across the street...
